Calvary Center Acquired by Psychiatric Solutions, Inc.
Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. acquired Calvary Center's Phoenix residential treatment facility and property last week in a deal that completes PSI's full ownership of Calvary Center. PSI acquired Calvary Center's substance abuse treatment programs in 2003.
Based in Franklin, Tenn., PSI offers an extensive continuum of behavioral health programs to critically ill children, adolescents and adults through its operation of 75 owned or leased freestanding psychiatric inpatient facilities with more than 8,000 beds in 29 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. PSI also manages freestanding psychiatric inpatient facilities for government agencies and psychiatric inpatient units within medical/surgical hospitals owned by others. Calvary Center in Phoenix is currently the only Arizona PSI facility.
According to George Staub, Calvary Center's chief executive officer, the acquisition strengthens Calvary Center's position as one of the nation's leading faith-based residential treatment facilities for clients with substance abuse and gambling addictions.
"In our 43 years of treating clients, we've earned an outstanding reputation nationwide for our programs and services," Staub said. "With this acquisition complete, we will continue our vision of providing specialized care to an increasing number of people who struggle with addiction."
